The University of Suwon, aiming at guiding human beings, illuminating the society and exploring the world, tries to foster a man of morality who understands nature as well as men, a man of intelligence who loves conscience and peace, and a progressive expert who pursues the happiness of human beings. The University has already established and is carrying out a long-term development plan with effect until the year 2010.   • Efficient and Productive University
    Efficiency and Productivity will be promoted by restructuring the administrative organization, computerizing academic affairs, optimalizing the aids for academic researches, assessing the academic achievements of professors, and vitalizing academic exchanges with other universities.
  • Education for Students
    The University will try its best to promote the efficiency of the academic administration and to establish welfare facilities to meet students' needs with providing chances to learn nature in the naturally beautiful campus and educational environments.
  • University Contributing to the Development of the Community
    In order to contribute to the development of the local community, and its culture and industry the University establishes an Institute of Technology Innovation, an incubator for venture enterprises, a support center for techno-parks, a center for environmental and clean technologies, a regional consortium center, a continuing education center and various special graduate schools. In addition to these, the University vitalizes a training center for teachers, which aims at extending helping-hands to local primary and middle schools and furthermore runs a consulting center for local residents to preserve and develop the traditional local culture.
  • University Contributing to the Development of the Nation Culture
    The University tries its best to succeed to and develop the traditional cultures of Suwon and Hwasung. For this purpose it will excavate historic remains and sites, and shed light on traditional arts including traditional Korean music.   • Restructuring of the University
    The University restructures its organization to keep pace with the developments of science and the changes of the high-educational environments in 2000's. It will establish a medical school and an Oriental medical school to provide medical services for the local community.
  • Expansion of Educational Facilities
    In addition to the harmoniously-arranged buildings on campus, the University has built an open-air theater, dormitories and plans to build Faculty Hall, Design Complex and an ultra modern general hospital of western and oriental medicine, and secure off-campus spaces.
  • Reform of Educational and Academic System
    The University will reform the educational system to meet the needs of students and society, and maximize educational productivity. It will try to strengthen liberal arts education, and develop a 5-year program covering undergraduate and graduate courses and the recruiting programs of early education on specialized fields.
  • Specialization of Computer Science and Telecommunication
    The University will computerize all the educational processes, specialize the department related to computer science and telecommunication, establish College of Information Engineering , set up organic exchange programs and a cooperative educational system among such media majors as Computer Science, Information, Arts, Industrial Engineering, Mass Communication, Electric and Electronic Engineering.
  • Specialization of Arts
    To specialize the fields of fine arts and music, the University will carry forward following plans: to select students based on their performance; to manage a preparatory school; to establish an Opera Center, Korean Music Institute, and World Art Center; to enlarge Ko Woon Art Museum; to develop computer image arts; to educate synthesized design of fashion and industrial design.
  • Specialization of Engineering
    To specialize various divisions of engineering, the University will work out a strategy for the development of each division. With the effective use of the researchers of the Kowoon Institute of Technology Innovation newly built in 1998, it will activate the Regional Consortium Center which obtained a grand prize in the National Consortium Contest, and such related centers as the Support Center for Teacho-Parks, the Incubator for Venture Enterprises, the Center for Environmental and Clean Technologies, Technology Innovation Center for Electronic Materials.
  • Establishment of College of Oriental Medicine
    The University will establish a college of Oriental medicine and an adjunct hospital, in order to develop oriental medicine, to give local people in Kyunggi Province good medical services, and the aged a closer connection with welfare facilities.
