Juridical science is designed to investigate law which has beed developed as a kind of social norm since ancient times, and to seek for human dignity and jusitce as well. Law may be divided into various branches and each of the following subjects is dealt with in separate courses in this Department: Constitutional Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Commercial Law, Administrative Law, Labor Law, Intellectual Property, Taxation, Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Conflict of Laws, International Law, Law of International Business Transaction, Philosophy of Law, History of Legal Institutions, and the like.

The acedemic curriculum aims at providing students with the specialized knowledge required of a lawyer, whether practicing at the bar or sitting on the bench, or engaged in other legal affairs. Social demand for lawyers and paralegals is not limited to the judicial world in the narrow sense, but rather is constantly increasing in almost every area of society.

The graduates of this Department are working in diverse fields of society, including the central or local government and the business world. Some examples are as follows: Judge Min-Sup Kwak is a graduate of this Department; Mr. Soon-Ho Ihm, graduated in 2000, passed the National Bar Exam of 2001; Ms. Mi-Ae Park, graduated in 1990, took in 1998 the Dr. Jur. degree at Goettingen University (Germany); and Mr. Don-Soo Chun, who was graduated in 1993 and took the Ph. D. degree in criminal psychology at Florida University (US) in 2001, is a faculty member of Gaya University.

Students' extracurricular academic activities are encouraged. Since the establishment of this Department in 1984, the Criminal Moot Court has sat on the bench annually. Eminent scholars and practitioners have been invited to lecture on the Single European Act, some emerging problems in civil law, the reunification of Korea, etc. And this Department has a reading room equipped with reference books and legal materials for students.
